Webinar on "Methods of Analysis Supporting HALAL Food Certifications"

Halal food certification is essential in ensuring that food products meet specific requirements in composition and methods of preparation in line with beliefs and ethical standards adopted by Muslim consumers. This certification process proceeds with the verification of the various stages of production practices, including the reliance upon rigorous analytical methods that ascertain the purity and authenticity of ingredients.

In this webinar, experts will share an overview of the key characteristics of the regulatory framework for halal certification, followed by detailed presentations on advanced analytical techniques used for verifying the composition of food.

This overview includes the use of RT-PCR and LC-MS/MS for detecting porcine DNA and gelatine, respectively, as well as headspace GC-FID methods for measuring methanol and ethanol in beverages.

The session will also discuss global challenges and prospects for harmonizing analytical standards and regulatory requirements followed in halal certification, offering crucial insights for professionals in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory fields.
